Tennis Club are a member of a brilliant Kansas City and surrounds scene, that includes Janglepophub favourites such as Readhouse, Eggs on Mars, Space Dingus and Mr. and the Mrs. They have just taken it one step further by being signed by Spanish giants Elefant Records.
This is presumably the final single from their forthcoming Pink album, which is now out on pre-order (see link here) and sees them slow down their scuzzy, humid, surf pop and weld it to a more controlled echoed psych.
It is less aggressive and more legible than their eponymous 2017, Spirit Goth debut, but is a perfect halfway point between yesteryear’s untamed Tennis Club and the beautifully modest jangled indie-pop that Elefant excel in unearthing.
If this is an indication of where Wilson Hernandez et all might go, then I cannot wait to see where their Elefant journey takes them.
