EP Review: Colours by Pixey (2019) (Self Released)

In 2016 Liverpool songstress Pixey, released the demo single Young (see below). It is a superb track and included on this debut EP, thus enabling you to discover just why half of the BBC DJ’s temporarily tempered their passion for generic indie rock to join the clambour to be the first, second and 97th to bestow upon the track much deserved national airtime. Then… three years passed…before…this debut EP…it was a long wait.

Thankfully, nothing much has changed. Opener and lead single Supersonic Love (see  video below) , On My Own and the superlative standout Hometown, have the same capacity to fill every conceivable aural space with as jangled array of riffs that the likes of The Orielles and Alvvays would play, if they suddenly wanted to appeal to the dance crowd.

Pixey is a thrill a minute, providing Friday night anthems in her own inimitable jangled manner. Don’t miss out on purchasing her digital debut EP out 06.09.19 (Supersonic Love single out 23.08.19)
