Meritorio Records started several years ago. In that time they have released vinyl by jangle luminaries such as Stephen’s Shore, Holy Tunics, Poppel, Smokescreens and The Seams and have become something of an easy choice for all your modern day crystalline jangle pop needs.
Sprinters / Struck Gold is perhaps not the usual crisp chiming jangle that is the brilliantly consistent signature dish of their label, although tracks such as the Struck Gold, the superlative It’s Gone (see below) and Virtue will appease those that rely upon the label for their regular jangle ingestions.
In fact, most of these tracks include luscious jangle at some point in their tenure. However the best of these are 3 & 4’s, Missing and Demolition (see below) that twist a The Memory Fades level of vocoded vocals through fuzzed up jangle gaze that remind me of the sort of beguiling mix that bands such as The BV’s and Tennis Club have bestowed upon the world.
This Wigan (UK) based three piece have not released one filler track in either of their two albums so far and would have to be considered Meritorio‘s flagship band at present.
