Taking the driven twee-pop sensibilities of Fuck Me I’m Twee era Tullycraft and drifting it through a C86 playfulness this Tilt-A-Whirl by Higher Selves Playdate deserves to be playlist headers for all the coolest lists around.
This Change Your Mind single by California’s Maria offers a beautiful juxtaposition of Yea-Ming and the Rumours-style jangly indie-pop fragility and chiming surf-pop and is undoubtedly their best track from their “second coming” under YAY! Records.
Earlier this week, Swiss Portrait – also known as the solo dream pop project of Michael Kay Terence – released his gorgeous new single “Worries.” The track is the second single from his upcoming sophomore album out later this year, and the latest from the Edinburgh-based artist since his wonderful debut album The Crippling Pain of Happiness released last summer. Recording, mixing, and producing everything in his bedroom studio, there has always been an equal emphasis on craft and intimacy in Terence’s work, resulting in a uniquely expansive, ethereal, and gorgeously endless sound that has become his signature….read full review at Kid With A Vinyl.

Whilst their Twitter tagline of “Like R.E.M. with girls” signals their jangle-pop intent this Tell All Your Friends single by New York’s Strange Neighbors represents a sound that is the perfect union between Voice of the Beehive and The Bangles.

‘During Retrograde’ is an unreleased track from Moller’s 2023 debut album ‘Sigh Baby.’ It will be featured on the upcoming compilation ‘Royal Oakie – Summer 2024,’ set to release on July 5th.
The song was produced by David Glasebrook and Jeff Moller, mixed by Jason Quever (Papercuts), and mastered by David Glasebrook. The compilation also includes tracks from recent and upcoming releases by Curling, Iain Mann, Donald Beaman, Half Stack, Holy Matter, and more, along with previously unreleased tracks by Natural Bridges.…read the full review at Psychedelic Baby Mag.

After spending much of the last few months building and developing his sound, New York-based newcomer Ceylon Sailor is now ready to introduce himself to the wider world with his catchy debut single ‘better times’.
Channelling a wonderfully fun and lively indie-rock aesthetic for his initial offering, ‘better times’ makes for a dazzling introduction to his sound so far. With its bright and uplifting textures, soaring atmosphere, and killer vocals layered throughout, he is kicking things off with a brilliantly infectious opening number here.
While it may be his only piece of new material to date, ‘better times’ shows that he is brimming with plenty of fresh and captivating ideas just waiting to be explored. With such a firm and confident grasp over his direction already, we can’t wait to hear what he comes back with next…read full review at Mystic Sons
Following a string of acclaimed singles, London-based alt-folk duo, Nudista today release their sophomore EP, ‘Nothing Makes Sense Until It Does’ via Sad Club Records.
The EP release is accompanied by new lead track, ‘Codependency’, a woozy acoustic jam with touches of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s word weary balladry and sweet harmonies.
“’Codependency’ is a song of two halves but its overarching theme, like the rest of the EP, is about growth” the band explain. “The first and second verses were written years apart which allows the narrative to change opinion and show how we can outgrow ourselves. The first verse was born out of an early-twenties assumption that others are better off without you, and you are better off without them. Whereas the second verse can see the immaturity in that approach to life and it uses sarcasm and humour to highlight the flaws in that world view.”…read the full review at Music Promotions.

Live performance from Andrew Huston and his band featuring four (1. Paper Ribbon 2.Density 3.Lied (Deja Vu) 4.The Window) of Hold Steady-style alt meets pub rock married to the drifting fuzzy guitar whirr of Guided By Voices.  A truly great live performance.
Emerging from the vibrant independent music scene of Oakland, California, PARALLEL artfully blends the introspective depths of post-punk with the ethereal elegance of shoegaze. Their music, reminiscent of the dark, gothic psychedelia of The Chameleons and Sad Lovers and Giants, and the minimalist atmospherics of Slowdive, Wire, and Low, captures a sound that is both lush and austere, dense yet airy…Blister comes off of Parallel’s forthcoming EP Flooded, out 7/10 via Play Alone Records and Cherub Dream Records….from the promo submission.
Haiku Redo release the 3rd single, ‘Who You Really Are’ from their forthcoming album out on Failsafe Records. On the back of their well received singles, ‘Thinking Of You’ and ‘Little Shoulders’ this is a chance to catch these Indie rockers in full flight….read full review at Under The Radar.

So Long Surfer is a Philadelphia-based collective work of Eric Juelke (Vox, Guitar, Bass), Kyle Ciarrocchi (Vox, Guitar), Noah Uy (Drums) and Max Fabiszewski (Bass). Their sound is described as a mix of 60s rock and modern psychedelic music. In early 2022, The band was brought together while enrolled at the Univerity of the Arts and by their mutual love of writing, playing, and listening to music. In August 2022, So Long Surfer released their first single, “What you Found” alongside their self-titled EP which was released in September 2022. In March 2023, they released a follow-up EP “Second Wave” before releasing the 2024 Landlocked album that this Ego Dearh track is from …adapted from the promo submission.
Finding the sweet spot between the muscular indie-rock power of The Strokes revival sound and the slacker-pop jangly energy of Jay Reatard, Crisantos forgoes the needs for any social media presence content in the knowledge that their music will eventually do their talking as is the case with this superlative Bumpz single.
Sarah Nienaber’s (Candace, Gospel Gossip, Is/Is, Web of Sunsets) latest Shady Cove project offers washed-out emotionality among a jangly fuzz-edged production that never fails to emanate beauty amid its dreamy psyche pop aesthetic.

Socialites are a band from San Antonio, Texas who recently shared their debut album, Where To. It features tracks like the standout single “Winter.”
A track reveled in melancholic shuffling dream pop with jangly guitars and a sound reminiscent of the early 2010’s sounding like a blend of Craft Spells and Wild Nothing, a now nostalgic sound that used to soundtrack our summers. It’s just what the doctor ordered….read full review at We All Want Someone To Shout For.
Propelling themselves with gusto through the corridor of jangle that the gap between The Lemonheads and the Lemon Twigs might reveal, London based duo Icons of Elegance and their superb Friday single add a sense of suave to the 90s guitar-pop sound.

Kevin Rumley is a singer-songwriter from Asheville, North Carolina who released his new EP, VI, last month. One of the standouts of the track is actually its single and closing track, “For Clifford.”
The April 7th release date of the track is a significant one to Kevin, as, “Twenty years ago, to the day, Kevin was almost killed in Iraq (serving with the Marines.) Thirteen years ago, to the day, Kevin found recovery from alcohol, opioids, and heroin. VI songs of healing.”…read full review at We All Want Someone To Shout For.

Dayflower are an indie dream pop band from Leicester, England with a love for gleaming melodies, reverb-drenched guitars, and synthesised scenescapes.
The core of the band has always been the creative partnership of Alex Clemence (vocals, guitar) and David Dhonau (bass, various instruments, production). Their passion for indelible tunes and abstract production is as strong now as when their first material emerged over a decade ago . . . (my bloody valentine, The Stone Roses, Air, Pavement, The La’s are constant influences.)
The pair began recording together as a DIY bedroom project with no expectations, yet their songs – at turns floaty, jangly or layered with crushing fuzz – have gone on to win over music fans around the world, assisted by airplay on BBC6 Music / Tom Robinson’s Fresh On The Net and physical releases on New York’s Cloudberry Records and Stuttgart based Summer Darling Tapes.

On her dreamy new single ‘Long Distant Memory’, rising Melbourne indie pop artist Madi Leeds continues to establish the nostalgic and thoughtful qualities that her endearing sound has, washing through emotions like grief in a heartfelt and earnest fashion that feels engrossing and draws you to the authenticity of her sound and style.,,,read the full review at Clout

We have featured Lunar Isles’ music on our blog extensively, and it has been well-received by our audience. Their music exudes a dreamy, summery, and beachy ambiance, complemented by ethereal vocals. Personally, I have developed a strong affinity for dreamgaze music in recent years, and Lunar Isles consistently resonates with my emotions and experiences.
Their music has the remarkable ability to transport me to a state of pure immersion and contemplation. Rather than seeking to escape life’s challenges, it allows me to savor the present moment even more. The fusion of dream pop and shoegaze in their work facilitates this unique connection. I have found the recent musical offerings from this Scottish musician, based in South Korea, to be particularly captivating. I wholeheartedly encourage exploring the complete discography of this artist….read the full review at Start-Track.

Marrying  Boys Don’t Cry era (The Cure) jangly post-punk to an Arcade Fire art-rock theatricality, this “Never Have I Ever” single from the forthcoming self-titled Sculpture Club album (out on Born Losers Records on June 14, 2024) intimates that something special could be in store from the full-length release.

Lone Seagull is one of the two DIY home recording solo projects, together with Lakes Region, of the Sydney-based composer and musician, as well as guitarist of the far louder shoegazers Trillion, Peter Bridle, who is working, in his spare time, on new material for both sides with possible releases later in the year.
“By My Side #16” is the first foretaste from a, hopefully, new EP from the artist’s slightly raw, breezily warm and gentle effect-laden lo-fi dream-pop moniker, while retaining a 90s sheen, borders an unusual vibrant hazy buzz of noisy pop energy….read full review at WhiteLight/WhiteHeat

The chameleonic guitars progress from winding blues into the stellar production to delivering a rancorously brashy standoff against disingenuous protagonists to raising the energy in the jangle pop choruses, working in seamless synergy with the ABBA-esque keys which inject elation into a bittersweet allegory of how being blind with envy and social media-imparted FOMO is an efficacious way of ensuring your world is rooted in negativity and moral decay.
Yet, instead of chastising the envious, Lemonade Sin chose a sweet not sour approach to remind listeners of the bliss which lies in altruism; you just can’t help surrendering to the soul in the lush dualling harmonies…read full review at AnR Factory

If you wanted to start off your day with springing pop rock music, may we quickly turn your attention to this track from Mighty Clouds. For starters, the band features Fred Thomas, who pretty much has the Midas’ Touch of indie rock, guaranteeing that you’ll be charmed within the confines of this tune. It’s got a good bit of dancing guitar lines, occasionally cascading off the beaten path into dreamier territories. Betty Marie Barnes has some solid pipes too, reminiscent of Rosie Tucker, turning these notes that seem almost out of tune into earworms…read the review at Austin Town Hall.

Slowcore brushed with the washed out under-production of Duster and the jangly melancholy of Elliott Smith makes this  Duchess 2 single from the eponymous debut EP by Brace Overjean perfect downtrodden lo-fi.
‘The Big Slowdown’ by Liverpool’s Ali Horn is a really poignant single that showcases the emotive depth and natural warmth of Ali’s voice. The steady swing of the song casts a breezy summer air thanks to the gentle guitar strums and echoed effects. Lines like “I ain’t got no hopes or dreams but I’m trying to make the darkness light” have a weighty impact thanks to the completely unfiltered, earthy tone of the vocal deliveries and the guitar notes that follow with a beautifully hypnotic sound.
Straight from the fertile Berlin DIY underground, multinational three-piece Adventure Team’s decidedly guitar-heavy sound is influenced by the numerous boy-girl revolutionaries of the indie rock, indie pop and queercore scenes of the 1980s and -90s as well as the free rock spirit of 1960s and -70s folk rock.
In between their tuneful melodies, vocal harmonies and emotionally expressive guitar solos, the three band members Jonathan, Juan and Ian dream of a liveable future, look back mercifully on past selves and get lost in the immediacy of the present – while getting inspired by utopian thinkers, dystopian novels, psychedelic experiences, socialist ideas and relationships between everyday people on the way.
Their second album “In Giraffe” is out now on vinyl via Glasgow indie label Heavenly Creature Records and as a Monorail Music-exclusive limited special edition including a fanzine.

It is hard to pigeon hole Mall Goths’ influences and genres, however looks between the cracks of the unlikely  union of acts such as Alvvays, Beat Happening, Soccer Mommy and Ghost Piss and you will somehow find the brilliance of a sound is rapidly becoming one of my “go-to” acts of the year.
“‘Leak in the Dreamworld’ by Thunder Boys is a torch song, a passion song to the fissures in all of us that bleed magic, movement, unbridled spirit, visions, soul, and transfiguration to spill forward,” Vogel shares of the new single. “[It] was written for the broken-hearted, for the silenced and psychologically imprisoned; for the dreams that accompany every revolutionary beginning.
Whether a mantra for the modest human in painful and silent alchemy towards their own freedom, wrestling with a labyrinth of liars and saints within and without, or a chant that attempts to reconcile pain towards a more worldly, and otherworldly, understanding and release of the bonds of society and skin.”…read full review at Flood Magazine.
Drew Danburry‘s band, Icarus Phoenix return with their new single, “Agradecido.” The playfully uptempo track hides a much darker meaning. The lyrics are about being alive but with nothing to live for. In a quirky twist, Danburry makes it into being grateful for any attention you receive or anything you accomplish because that’s not something a dead person can generally do….from Surviving The Golden Age

Influenced by the likes of Alvvays, Beach House, and Mazzy Star, Snowcuffs takes a slightly more experimental approach, setting themselves apart from their contemporaries. The band’s lush, immersive sound is both nostalgic and innovative, creating a rich tapestry of dreamy melodies and dynamic rhythms….read the full review at Where The Music Meets

An inky, aqueous single slinks out today from Giant Day, the psych-pop project from Derek Almstead (Circulatory System, The Olivia Tremor Control, The Glands, Elf Power, of Montreal) and Emily Growden. The group is the first new Elephant 6 official band in over 15 years, and they kick off their upcoming album, Glass Narcissus, with the dark, propulsive pounce of “Walk With A Shadow.” Rubbery bass, pulses from the first strains, while Emily’s vocals curl and coil over the top of the track….read the full review at Raven Sings The Blues
