EP Review – The Way Back by Secret Postcards (2024) (Old Bad Habits)

ScretPostacrdsbad

Having debuted at the beginning of 2023 with the glorious jangly indie-pop of the Never Dreaming  single (released by Fastcut Records and the Make Me Happy Records label), the Secret Postcards are finally back with something more substantial with this The Way Back EP that is released on another Greek label, the Old Bad Habits Label.
This is the first installment of the label’s ambitious project to introduce the indie acts of Greece to a wider audience. Unapologetically, Secret Postcards flaunt their devotion to Sarah Records, highlighting their superiority over a multitude of recent bands swept up by the “Sarah Cult.”
As such, the fluttering, tiny, jangled riffs and barely discernible percussion of Dear Diary, Sunny, and Star September tiptoe with furtive introspection through the subtle, slight fuzz-pop sounds of acts such as The Field Mice and Brighter, whereas the crystalline, jangly indie-pop clarity of the Sea Urchins, The Orchids, and The Springfields completes their homage to the mainstays of 80s jangly indie-pop on th title track, My Ghost and Faraway.
It does not get more jangly indie-pop than this!
