Half of A Rainbow

Track: Unintentional Love- Addict From: Unintentional Love Addict (single) Label: Self released Out: Now
Half of a Rainbow‘s new single unintentional love-addict’ builds upon the practice of ‘less is more’ and delivers a simplistic guitar riff intertwined with the story of someone who has found themselves within a world of meaningless romantic encounters – unintentionally becoming a ‘love-addict.’
Despite an emotionless sung performance, the Oasis-induced song develops into a to-the-point punk odyssey with a pinch of The Fall and showcases half of a rainbow’s stylistic diversity once again…from the promo submission

The Sheeps

Track: Proof of Concept From: Proof of Concept (single) Label: Canceled Records Out: Now
If there was a track that completely encompassed everything about this week, somehow it’s this new tune from The Sheeps. There’s a steadiness to it, an almost routine and circular chug; it feels, to a degree like finding you’re footing in this weird old world.
Even so, you get the feeling like you’re on some magnificent car ride to nowhere, but not bothered by that one bit. You’re just riding in the backseat, music blasting, sun shining on everyone in the care as you all grin from ear to ear…Read full review at Austin Town Hall here

Noah Roth

Track: C U Tomorrow From: Don’t Forget To Remember (album) Label: Devil Town Tapes Out: Now
For the album’s sound Roth was going for somewhere between the Flaming Lips, the Magnetic Fields, and Neutral Milk Hotel; songwriting that’s poignant and weird, sweet and gritty, in equal measure. “I feel like I second-guess myself a lot with music in general; and with this album, there was a very conscious effort on my part to not do that, and to just trust my instincts,” they say. “Even if it’s weird or not how a song should sound, just embracing that and letting it be what it is.”…from the  press release by Mia Hughes

Pablo For Hire

jayidunnowho

Track: Back 2 Back From: Back 2 Back (single) Label: Self released Out: Now
This song is a post punk indie rock tune, with clips of a boys holiday from a couple years ago as the video.
Unfortunately a lot of the boys in this video and I aren’t friends anymore.
I’m using the imagery of a couple in bed laying back to back as they sit in a quiet tension, and relating that to the rocky relationship with the old friends in this video. Hopefully it can open up a little dialog for those old mates and myself. Ya never know…from the promo submission.

Bollard

Track: Between The Hemispheres From: Between The Hemispheres (single) Label: Self released Out: Now
Within this captivating composition, echoes of 80s post punk and “gloomy” rock intermingle with the vibrant hues of modern indie rock, while a captivating bassline serves as its formidable backbone. The ideally balanced vocals find perfect equilibrium, blending seamlessly with the compelling chorus that permeates our consciousness, while bleeding guitars pave an evocative path into the depths of our very souls….Read the full review from Last Day Deaf here

Gimmy

Track: Sweat (An Australian Summer) From: Sweat (An Australian Summer)
(single) Label: Third Eye Stimuli Out: Now
…the sunny psychedelia of her new seasonal anthem is so winsome.  She doesn’t say much – she bellows the word “sweat” a lot, presumably suffering from heat exhaustion – over the uptempo groove, which allows a whole mess of instruments to carry the song cheerily forth, including drums, bass and bongos…read full review at Tone Deaf, here

Ural Mountains

Track: Haunting East From: Haunting East (single) Label: Self released Out: Now
Nostalgic, anxious, alienating moods pulled from the urgent drive of brisk drum beats, humming, meandering bass lines, and obsessive, shimmery angsty guitar outflows, shiver and vibrate headily around feather-light wistful vocal dread layered with sad murmurs, epitomizing the disconnected, out-of-body experience, felt during a worldwide crisis…read full review at White Light White Heat here

Gold Gold

Track: Borderline From: Gold Gold (album) Label: Self released Out: Now
The band writes:
“11 years ago in March, we ate rolls and recorded this album. Lars Skoglund, Petter Winnberg and Markus Krunegård. Then we re really don’t know. We lost speed and since then we have been nagging that it should see the world. What would then, according to the economy, be hip according to us, has perhaps become so and ended up off and become hip again.
We do not know! But unlike True Detective’s description of time as a flat circle, we want to claim that time is a ball of yarn and certain things are suddenly close to each other again. We also missed the 10th anniversary, but now the darn record is going out. GOLD GOLD is the name of the band and the album is not called anything. Enjoy!”…from the promo submission.
