This recording project of San Francisco’s, Jason Quever, takes a Manchester (Madchester / Baggy) core and threads it through dreamy psychelia. The forthcoming Past Life Regression album, could be one of the albums of 2022 if the three singles released so far are indicative.

Golden Alphabet

Track: Ring Every Bell From: Ring Every Bell (single) Label: Self released Out: Now

Feeble Little Horse

Track: Modern Tourism From: Modern Tourism (EP) Label: Crafted Sounds Out: Now
Flat stringed jangle-pop, that flips between melody and perfect, lo-fi/bedroom-pop disinterest. It may not be a new release, but it is too good not to mention and has now been re-issued on Crafted Sounds.

Diet Lite

Track: Stuck Again From: Stuck Again (single) Label: Self released Out: Now
Dynamic mix of pop punk / power-pop energy, mixed with a 60s psych-rock edge from a Milwaukee based threesome that never take their foot of the power pedal !

Royal Target

Track: Losing Your Way From: Losing Your Way (Single) Label: Self released Out: Now
This Munich based solo project has been something of a regular feature on the Beat The Delete pages, with numerous singles that cover just about every nuance of jangle-pop you can think of. This is the first time he has added jangle to early era The Cure though and he pulls it off with aplomb !

The Magnetic Library

Track: Sorry From: A Stupid Smile (single) Label: Self released Out: Now
This fo-fi / jangly psyche-rock project led by Los Angeles based Morgan MacDonald  lies somewhere between the languid, lo-fi emotionality of Big Thief and the slight fuzz laden twang of The Umbrella Puzzles…Their bandcamp notes states “make music no one listens to”. Now that would be a shame.

Otra Vez

Track: Donuts in the Parking Lot From: Special World (album) Label: Ghostie Recordings Out: Album release TBA
Obtuse, off-kilter, lo-fi indie that grabs you by your most melodic parts with it’s mixture of flat Pavement style riffs and Mac DeMarco sanguine, slacker playfulness.

Christian James

Perfect mixture of lo-fi rock, Mo Troper leftfield fuzz and melodic riffs that just about force their way through the buzzsaw guitars.

Sierra Fotouhi

Track: Altadena From: Altadena (single) Label: Self released Out: Album release TBA
After this debut single, it may be a tad premature to start comparing this beautiful introspective sound to the likes of The Churchill Garden’s dream-pop sweetness…but there, it is done !

Nari

Track: 7UP From: Greener on the Other Side (album) Label: Park The Van Records Out: Album release TBA
Emotional response to the struggles of some with a drink problem coursed through the languid, lo-fi jangly that is so reminiscent of beautiful Frankie Cosmos sound.
