Beat the Delete #0025 – New Music Recommendations

New music submissions (‘new’ classes as less than a month from release) arrive at JPH from all sources, including band members, promo companies and the various follow buttons that I have clicked over the years at the various streaming sites etc…the following are among my  favourites that have  ‘beat the delete’ button in the last week.

Lost Film

Track:  Enough From: Zero Summer  Label:  Self Released Release date: pre order now for 25 October 2019 release

Fragile Sarah Records style jangly indie-pop made relevant for the 2010’s.  The most anticipated album on my follow list at present.

Blue Tomorrows

Track:  Sound of Moving From: Without Colour  Label:  Moon Glyph Release date: pre order now for 25 October 2019 release

Web of Sunsets / Candace songstress, Sarah Nienaber does the debut album thing with dreamy indie-pop grace and beauty.

Thousand Yard Stare

Track:  It Sparks From: It Sparks (single)  Label:  Self Released Release date: 27 September 2019

These Slough based legends of the 1990’s are finally back with their first new music in two and a half years. As always this is grumbling guitar pop majesty.

Luby Sparks

Track:  Somewhere From: Somewhere (single)  Label:  Space Shower Networks Inc Release date: September 2019

First new music in nearly a year from Japan’s jangliest dream-poppers.

Bull

Track:  Love Goo From: Love Goo (single)  Label:  Self released Release date: 13 September 2019

York (UK) track taking on the Melbourne laconic janglers at their own game and adding horns to win it. A wonderful bed partner for the previously released ‘Perfect Teeth’ single.

The Hangabouts

Track:  Mrs Greene From: Who Wants Cilla (single)  Label:  Self released Release date: 27 September 2019

This superb 60’s inflected pop vignette just reminds the 2.5 years that has elapsed since their previous ‘Kits and Cats and Saxon Wives’ album is way too long.

Sweetness

Track:  Sing, Don’t Shout From: Sing  Label:  Self released Release date: 25 September 2019

Another superb single following on from April’s ‘Pretty’. Brilliant fuzzed up jangle with  Morrissey / Alec Ounsworth vocal theatric and dramatics.

Cones

Track:  Inner Voice From: Pictures  Label:  Dangerbird Records Release date: 20 September 2019

If Grandaddy embraced extra jangle and a reduction of tempo, whilst simultaneously keeping an eye on the cool crown…Cones is what he could have been!

Vision 3D

Track:  Party From: Lp  Label: Six Tonnes De Chair Records Release date: 13 September 2019

Think Psyche rock with urban surf sensibilities, that is best played in the smokiest of tiny venues…and you will be in a similar ball park as this truly original Belgian/Franco act.

Govier

Track:  Mothers Day From: No More Frontiers  Label:  Self released Release date: 27 September 2019

Lo-fi Nap Eyes temp meets Adam Green style jangly anti folk in tracks full of contrived everyday irrelevances that are strangely/immensely alluring.

Black Sea Dahu

Track:  Rhizome From: No Fire in the Sand (EP)  Label:  Mouthwatering Records Release date: 27 September 2019

It’s been a long time since urban folk has been this beautiful…this jangly. A stunning follow up EP to the wonderful ‘White Creatures’ debut album.
