EP Review – All my Friends Are Dead To Me by COW (2019) (Self Released)

COWWP

Liverpool based four piece Cow certainly know how to fill every coneivable space in the aural landscape their debut All My Friends Are Dead To Me EP.

The initial three tracks nosedive directly into grunge like Mother Love Bone style alt. rock riffs and stay there for enough time to convince you that the genre is due a revival.

Then the Saturnalia / David Gedge / The Wedding Present vocals sidle in, the aesthetic becomes more controlled and the lusicious fuzz bliss of Dinosaur Jr and / Goo era Sonic Youth dominates the general feel.

This debut is endearingly rough around the grunge edges (as it should be) which provides the perfect antagonism for the melodic noise pop overlay and vulnerability in the vocal delivery.  Essentially it just feels organic, which can be unusual to find it todays musical landscape.

A debut that hints at immense promise.
