Album Review – When Summer Comes by Field School (2022) (Bobo Integral / Small Craft Advisory)

FiledSchool

Call yourself a Jangle Pop fan? Unless you have been residing under a rock for the last year and have simply had no access to all the best that our favourite musical genre has to offer, you would have been treated to the aural delights of Field School, the new project of Math and Physics Club‘s Charles Bert, whose three EP releases in 2022 may well find themselves nestled very near the top of many best ofs come the end of the year.
This album is the best of these It’s Only Everything (January 2022), Hey Satellite (April 2022) and Swainson Thrush EP’s and the ever reliable Bobo Integral has satisfied the hipsters’ need for vinyl by lovingly placing the best on plastic interspersed with four new tracks. Similarly, the Small Craft Advisory is continuing their series and provide a very limited (50 copies) cassette offering.
I am not going to write a review on what is effectively a compilation album, as I have already written them for each individual EP (just click on the EP titles in the previous paragraph to be reminded of my gushing fanboy appreciation of this act), however, I believe this act should be considered the breakthrough act of the year for anyone that has any level of jangle coursing through their veins.
